Handmade Silver Dove Pendant, Inspired by Matisse
I have always loved the artist Henri Matisse, especially his beautiful paper cut-outs. This pendant was inspired by one of his works that had wonderful abstract birds flying about. I cut out the dove by hand from sterling silver sheet using a jeweler's saw and slightly domed it for more dimension. I then gave it a matte, brushed finish for a contemporary look. It hangs at a slight angle on the chain, as if it is taking flight. The pendant hangs from a shiny sterling silver octagonal snake chain.
The pendant measures approximately 1 1/4" (3.2cm) high and 1 1/8" (2.8cm) wide.
