Small Modern Leaf Gold Fill Dangle Earrings, inspired by Matisse
Petite Modern Leaf 14K Gold Fill Dangle Earrings, inspired by Matisse, handmade
I have always loved the artist Henri Matisse, especially his beautiful paper cut-outs. These earrings were inspired by some of his abstract leaves. I cut them out by hand from 14K gold fill sheet using a jeweler's saw and slightly domed them for more dimension. I gave them a matte, brushed finish for a very contemporary look. They hang from a 14K gold fill ear wire.
The earrings hang about 1" (2.7cm) from the top of the ear wire to the bottom of the leaf. The leaf is about 7/16" (1.1cm) wide. Note that these are smaller than the similar version I offer in silver.
Please allow for minor differences from the earrings pictured here, as each piece is completely handmade!
A note about the material: These earrings are created from 14/20 gold fill. Gold fill is created by bonding or "welding" a thin layer of gold to a base metal core (brass). The gold is 14K, and the 20 refers to the percentage of gold (1/20th, or 5%). Gold filled jewelry has a thicker layer of gold than gold-plated, making it more durable, but much less expensive than 14K gold.
